Reality check: March is nearly coming to an end. Just the thought of it gives me mixed and random feeling. A feeling of exitement that summer is making its way through and a heartbreaking feeling that all of this shall end soon. This media log-ing has become a routine now and putting an end to it isn't that easy.

This last quarter definitely made me enjoy media more. Maybe because I actually like and love what I'm relating to. I hope the theme for this last quarter kind of got into your hearts. I learned so many things in media for the whole school year and these learnings aren't ready to leave my system now. I'll bring these lessons with me as I journey my life.

To my readers, who said this is going to end? Not that fast friends. We can still criticize and express what we feel without writing it, so long as we know where we stand.

To Miss Platon, our ever lovable english teacher, thank you for giving us this chance to prove ourselves.

Juniors, we're all in this together, we're almost there.

GOODLUCK!

A taste of your future is here
- Tin Mate

Why the quote? Over lunch, my folks and I, discussed several important things that should be given consideration this coming summer break and we have planned out what's going to happen in my life this summer. Good God! A have secured a training, a summer job and a review center this break. A review center- just the thought of it, gives me goosebumps- which could make or break my plans in the future. I have realized how this review is going to be important to many juniors now and we are loving the idea of it.

Review centers are at the top priority of most juniors at this time. Why are we so enthralled to get into the most acknowledged or most popular review centers? Media comes in as we try to see how this review center has maneuvered the tracks of our college life. They say that they give us an assurance of getting in to the top 3 colleges- UP, Ateneo, La Salle. But, how sure are we that they can really pull out the best potential in us? I have heard different sides and opinions regarding on whether to get into a review center or just simply review ourselves. Both have their own reasons and both have sense but in the end, it's still us who make the decision. Its just irrating how some review centers exaggerate the fact about college entrance exams. They have their own different tactics on how to get a student in their classrooms like their colorful handouts, posters, a list of students who passed UP Ateneo Lasalle, a door-to-door campaign and a strategic tactic of placing their review centers in Katipunan. Katipunan, of course, one of the hottest spot in Quezon City. Where else would you see most teenagers hanging out?

You know what? I think the best way to secure a college school is to get dead serious with your studies now, and oh, you should've started way back first year.

You? Did you get yourself a review center?

Be the first. Get AHEAD
Genius yet? Be an EXPERT

You can't totally get over the girly-girl in you if you didn't have at least one barbie doll inside your closet. Girl, this is our one distinct symbol! From years back and up to now, it just keeps on getting better. New clothes, new shoes, new hairstyles with the new looks!

Whoever made up this fashionably great idea, must be a billionaire by now. I swear, every girl-y stuff started from here. Other dolls just followed and copied it. Innovation here folks! I am too proud to say that I myself onced got obssessed with these dolls. I would even cry my eyes out just to get a barbie doll every time a new doll is out. Of course, and who can forget the bragging sessions with our friends? "Mine is prettier!" "No, yours is ugly!"

On the other hand, these barbie dolls can do more than just a fancy collection. Everyone is aware that barbie dolls have gone far and now, it's starting to manipulate even a 5yr-old girl's mind. We know how perfect the faces of a doll are, right? Thus, plastic surgery started to become popular because of such perfect examples, our barbie dolls. Women, or even girls, think they can achieve the perfect beauty as a doll could. What we do not know is, a doll is made by man, and our faces and bodies is already made perfectly by God in his own image and likeness. Nothing could be better than that. Sadly, our eyes are still half-closed to the reality.

Too perfect to be real?

"Pity those who wait. . trusting love to fate. . "

One of my all time favorite songs is Got to Believe in Magic by David Pomeranz. The lyrics above is just an excerpt from his song. I don't know how's the song different from the other songs, but what I know is, whenever this is played, a magical feeling embraces my world. Don't you get the same feeling? The mellow of the song captures our hearts and somehow, you can also relate with it, may it be a feeling of love or just plain feeling happy and lucky.

Another thing about this song is it reminds me of my first childhood barkada and again, reminds me so much of my brother. It was the theme song of our barkada and we always listen to these kinds of music back then. Reminscing those old days makes me feel young and it really brings out this big smile on my face. Just feeling the love of my childhood barkada made me miss them more. You might think things have ended between the strings of our friendship? Mind you, we still go out and do stuffs like we usually do before and yes, we are still a one big barkada.

Great songs aren't just made for you to listen to it, it's also a way for you to reminsce the those-were-the-days of your life. What's amazing about it, is the impact it can do to your heart.

PHILIPPINE SENATORIAL CANDIDATES 2007 (and their airing tv commercials)

Senatorial candidates are everywhere these past weeks and months- provinces, cities, tv commercials, radio stations, on the walls and even campaigns inside the malls. Here they are again and here we go again.

May I speak with formality dear readers? Countrymen, I want to express to you how much I value my citizenship and how much my country means to me. I totally love my country and I'm far like the others who couldn't even pronounce the word Filipino straight. And so I am here, to remind you, that in this coming election, let us be wise and vote the person God is whispering in our ears.

As you have noticed, the candidates have used different tactics to promote their campaigns but let us still look through it and don't just let ourselves be carried away. I point out here the catchy and deceiving tv commercials. Many of them have used this medium as means of being recognized. Their commercials are even aired in prime time. Since we have just studied media, we should be aware enough to know what they are trying to tell us. I am not saying all of them are deceiving us but I am simply emphasizing here the possibilities of being deceived. Let us remember, they would do everything in their means to get what they want and if we let whatever they want overpower us, then our future is endangered. So, we are here to see who is sincere and not.

TV commercials of these senators might be tricky and it is up to us, to show we are dead serious we want some change in this country. Let us vote the right person.

Goodluck to all candidates!

"UNLITXT 20 send to 2870 message sent.... You have just been loaded...."

Who haven't memorized this text format? I've used this so many times that it's already stuck in my head like the chemical formulas in chemistry that has to be memorized. It only proves that Globe Telecom has long envaded our systems already. Everybody is aware that it is one of the biggest companies nationwide who's earning an estimation of billions every year. This is how manipulative the telecom has become. Their strategies are uniquely different that nothing seem to keep up with them. The Smart telecom and Globe telecom are two rivals that have been competing for some years now. What I'm sure is, Globe has become one of the buddies of people. We have embraced their benefits and special features with our open arms. One admiral astounding thing about them is that it continues to grow and develop.

However, as we always say, too much is never appreciated. Lately they have increased their unlimited text feature and many didn't like the change that happened. For us, it is too much and why the heck do they have to put an increase when they're even earning more than expected. This is where the promotional strategies comes in and usually, ordinary students like us wouldn't understand this. Our worlds do not collide with them that our point of view is not their concern. Its sad that until now, they still haven't given back the fair and square unlimited text feature in Globe.

Just a sigh to us, this is how multi-national companies work their way to success.

ARE YOU ONE OF US?

"Pretty woman, walking down the street. Pretty woman, the kind I'd like to meet. Pretty woman, I don't believe you it must be true. No one could look as good as you. . ."

Can you sing with me now? Yes! You got the tune alright. For the longest time, I've always wanted to go here and as fortunate as Julia Roberts, she's not the only one who can strut a pose here. The picture was taken in Rodeo Drive, Beverly Hills where the movie, Pretty Woman, had some of the scenes taken. Like how it was featured in the movie, indeed, it was such an admirable and wonderful place. A busy city too with lots of tourists, might I add. People you are most likely to see here are the ones who has all the flashy expensive things- the Prada, Bvlgari, Dolce and Gabbana. Yes, the sosy and the sophisticated type of people. So, if you were to tour there, you should go with the flow. Not that you wear those flashy expensive clothing or things, but you dress up well because you also don't know who you might bump into.

It was like a dream to be there. I felt like I'm a part of a movie or something, it was surreal. Swear, I'll go back there again!

Every girl has her own enchanting special night. The promenade is nothing but the sparkling and twisted night a girl can walk down the aisle looking at her best.

The picture above is just a peek through a fun and mad night of February 17. It was indeed twisted. I swear, I could go on with every detail of this night but this isn't the place for it.

In line with that, I am happy to say that our promenade was sponsored by Candy and Ponds. It was such a privilege to be handled by such great deal of organizers. We appreciated all the surprises plotted in that event and every bit of suspense that caused heartaches. They had these booths that granted our wishes- the picture booth and make-up booth. We also loved the red carpet that set the mood of each one of us who passed through it. Yes! Now, I have something to share to my grandchildren!

Of course, there are the up and down sides of every event. We were dead thrilled to know who were the awardies but, to our surprise, the awarding ceremony came too early. Boohoo. Add to that, candidates to every category wasn't announced. It was an event for everyone so we deserve to know for some reason right? Maybe they could pick up this piece of advice.

The most loved of all is the dancefloor! How we wish we can all bring it home. Memories will be kept and thanks to our sponsors because it didn't just leave us a mark but a scar that will forever be with us.

Btw, cheers to my friend Patty who bagged the Prom Queen Award!

. . . every heartache and every thump of this heart belongs to youu. .
